Sixth Annual Podcast-a-thon

Friday, March 1 - 7:00 PM

The Denison University Journalism program announces a Community Division for its sixth annual Podcast-a-thon. The competition invites local storytellers to make a 3-8 minute original audio story with a narrative structure about any subject. The Podcast-a-thon will conclude with a Pod-a-palooza, the final listening party and awards ceremony.

The Community Division is open to anyone on or off Denison’s campus. The Journalism program provides guidelines and resources to help anyone interested make the best audio story possible.

The Podcast-a-thon began six years ago in large part because of a major grant by the Mellon Foundation to support efforts to embed place-based narrative in the curriculum across disciplines. Storytelling, and emphasis on narrative, is one of the ways to do that, and it’s the reason the Podcast-a-thon emphasizes narrative when judging entries. The event also encourages students and faculty from a variety of classes to learn how to communicate their stories and subject matter for broader audiences.

The Journalism program is especially interested in community entries that tell the stories about real life in different segments of the surrounding community.
