Prepare Garden Beds & Plant Early Crops

Saturday, March 16 - 9:30 AM

Learn when and how to start an early garden and have vegetables as early as April.  Soil preparation and fertilizing will be discussed, as well what can be transplanted or directly seeded into the garden for early crops. The content is geared for beginner and intermediate gardeners, but all gardeners will be able to pick up some tidbit of information to make their own gardens more successful. KEY CONCEPTS that will be covered: know what to grow and when for Spring crops – components of soil – soil testing – amending/enriching soil in beds – directly seeding vs transplanting – “hardening off” plants started indoors from seeds – reading/using info on seed packets.

This class is also offered in Pataskala on a different date. These FREE classes are presented by experienced Licking County Master Gardeners in affiliation with OSU Extension in Newark.
