Kim TallBear Book Discussion

Thursday, March 11 - 7:00 PM

Denison University's Laura C. Harris Series welcomes Kim TallBear to host a virtual discussion of her book, "Native American DNA: Tribal Belonging and the False Promise of Genetic Science.”

"Native American DNA: Tribal Belonging and the False Promise of Genetic Science” addresses questions with profound ramifications: Who is a Native American? And who gets to decide?

TallBear is Associate Professor of Native Studies at the University of Alberta, and Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Peoples, Technoscience & Environment. TallBear established the teaching and research program, Indigenous Science, Technology and Society, which informs “national, global and Indigenous thought and policymaking related to science and technology” to promote Indigenous self-determination. TallBear is a citizen of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate in South Dakota.

Clare Jen and Kelly Jo Fulkerson-Dikuua will serve as co-discussants.

The event is free and open to the public and will take place over Zoom. Register at https://denison.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJApc-6srj8sGNevM4d3_GMZTEa_i6Hd3CYV. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. ?
