Free Community Book Club
Members of the community are invited to participate in One Book, One Community, a free community book club hosted by The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in partnership with the public library systems of Licking County.
This year’s book selection is The Second Life of Mirielle West by acclaimed
author Amanda Skenandore, whom participants will have the opportunity to meet
at a book discussion and signing on Oct. 22.
In
The Second Life of Mirielle
West, the glamorous world of a silent film star’s wife abruptly
crumbles when she’s forcibly quarantined at the Carville Lepers Home. This
page-turning story of courage, resilience and reinvention is set in 1920s
Louisiana and Los Angeles. Amanda Skenandore is a historical fiction writer,
registered nurse and the winner of the American Library Association's RUSA
Reading List for Best Historical Fiction Novel of the Year.
Complimentary
copies of the book are available to the first 100 registrants. Books may be
picked up at the Warner Library or any of the public libraries in Licking
County. A limited number of free e-books and e-audio books are also available
to download through any of the public libraries in Licking County.
