RESCHEDULED:
Gifted children's brains work differently, new research shows, and need instruction and enrichment activities developed with those differences in mind. To learn about the latest research and what it means for educators and parents of gifted kids, please attend a talk from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the John Gilbert Reese Center. The event includes lunch and is free to the public. RSVPs are encouraged; see below for contact information.
Carol Strip Whitney and Richard Whitney will present "The Gifted Brain: New Discoveries in How Smart Kids Learn," in which they will describe new research, provide examples of curriculum that accommodates these learning differences while meeting state standards, and answer questions about their work with gifted children. Teachers, family members, researchers, and anyone who works with or knows a gifted child can benefit from this informative presentation.
Carol Strip Whitney, Ph.D., is a gifted education specialist and Richard Whitney, M.D., is a physician at Licking Memorial Hospital.
