This year we will display 237 pairs of adult shoes (using the LCCH Feb 2024 data) and 153 pairs of children's shoes to represent those that are considered homeless by the Newark Schools system. There were over 200 pairs of shoes in honor of those that had passed in the previous years to substance use disorder. We anticipate that many families will bring shoes to represent their loved ones again this year. All shoes (other than those donated for a loved one that has died because of substance use disorder) will be donated to those in need through the Newark Homeless Outreach and other local organizations.
